Ian Chilton asked,
| I have just been looking at my procmail log file. After every entry, it says:
| Extraneous Locallogfile ignored
|
| Please could someone tell me what this means
First, it means that you mistyped the message. It must be "Extraneous
locallockfile ignored" because procmail never says anything about a local
logfile. But you did have "lockfile" in the subject line, so I will take
it that you didn't waste time looking for a problem with the logfile.
"Extraneous locallockfile ignored" means that you are asking for a local
lockfile (the second colon after the :0 and the flags) on a recipe with an
action for which a local lockfile doesn't make sense. Usually the action
is a left brace that opens a nesting block without spawning a clone.
A local lockfile is needed only when the action can modify a file (and thus
can conflict with another simultaneous procmail process that tries to modify
the same file).
