(Fwd) (Fwd) Re: Credit card processing

For the past several days, a user at atco-usa.com has been apparently
relaying all messages he/she/it receives to the procmail mailing list.
When I attempted to contact the person in question
(rcard(_at_)atco-usa(_dot_)com),
the message I sent *privately* got bounced to the procmail list. It's
become fairly obvious that complaining to rcard is useless. Hence, I've
sent this to you.

As you no doubt already know, procmail is a mail filtering utility. Why
rcard seems to think that "mail filtering utility" == "credit card
processing utility" is beyond me. I have saved most of the messages I
have received from rcard via the procmail list and I can provide them if
necessary.

Please let rcard know that this behavior is not appreciated. And get him
to stop.

Whomever you are:

The procmail mailing list has NOTHING, repeat, NOTHING, to do with credit
cards. Please stop redirecting mail to it unless it concerns the mail
filtering utility procmail.

Be aware that any future inappropriate mailings to the procmail list will
be reported to your sysadmins and, if necessary, to their upstream
providers.

I don't think any bank or service will accept paper today -- you

Our bank accepts paper credit card transactions. We have no terminal or PC
program. However, or credit card volume is low, and we live in a small
town. Heck, all the tellers and manager at St. Michaels Bank know us by
name (just as they know all their customers). One of the advantages of a
small town, probably not available to everyone.

We run a retail store and some days half our revenue comes from
credit cards. It is extra work and I don't like giving up all the
percentage points and fees, but money is money.

The WEVA deal sounds great. I wasn't aware of it. If I hadn't
just gone thru hell and high water...

Same with us. We became aware of the WEVA deal about six months after we
got our deal through the local bank. We think the WEVA would save us a few
bucks, but we were put off by the paperwork requirement. Not only had we
just gone through it, but the WEVA requirements were even more. So we
stayed put.
