setup help

I don't want to be a newbie that steps out of line and fills this 
mail-list with a bunch of questions that are probably in a faq somewhere 
but after reading a few documentations and man pages, I have one quick 
question. In order to use the procmail command from a user status don't 
you need to call it from your .forward? and if so can someone send me an 
example script.
