Procmail Newbie?

I'm new to procmail, I have successfully got up and running but ...
All my procmail file does is forward email, 
Is there a limit on the number of characters for an email alias ?
Is there a limit on the number of email aliases ?
Is SmartList a good way to go to handle a mailing list ? What are the
drawbacks and pitfalls?
