The most likely explanation is that procmail does not have sufficient
privileges to write to your mailspool. What are the permissions on
/var/spool/mail and procmail? Procmail may need to be setgid mail or
setuid root for this to work.
Procmail is installed systemwide, and it delivers mail for me every day.
In fact, it works just fine right now delivering the procmail list to its
own folder, and so on. I forgot to say that the above was a single
incident. Well, I _hope_ it was a single incident, I need to go over my
log file again with a fine tooth comb.
Hmm, is your mailspool NFS mounted from elsewhere? Could that server
have gone down? If so that would also explain it.
Hmm, that I have to check on! Thanks for the tip. Might have been a glitch
in communications perhaps.
