Jesus, you would think a mailing list about a program that can delete
email spam could be used to protect the mailing list itself from email
spam! I *really* hate spam. Who is in charge here? Physicians, heal
thyselves. Is anyone awake at the computer?
Of course, the primary focus of this list is really "a program that can
flexibly filter mail." Sure, it can filter spam, but that was never
the primary purpose of procmail.
It would be nice if the listserver was set up to filter spam, but this is
largely an unmoderated, fully automatic list. To filter out spam, someone
would have to actively administrate the list -- there's no reliable
way to "automatically" detect spam.
As it stands, there are several packages of procmail filters for
filtering out spam on your end. Or, in other words, "Jesus, you'd think
someone one on a mailing list about a program that can delete spam would
use it to filter out spam on their end."
