'bypassed locking' and AIX 4.3.1 compilation

1998-06-15 14:40:13

Couple prob's with procmail (pre7).

I've been running a version compiled on AIX 4.2.1, but we recently moved
up to 4.3.1 on the mail server. Since then I've been getting file-locking
problems (fixed this before by compiling on 4.2.1 after upgrade). So, i
recompiled on 4.3.1, and it compiles fine, but when invoked by my
.forward, it just doesn't do anything. It appears to run fine, but
doesn't filter or log. If i switch my 4.2.1 binaries back (using same
.procmailrc and .procmail/*) it starts filtering and logging again.
Anyone noticed this problem or gotten proc to compile on AIX 4.3.1?

Second, I'm getting this 'bypassed locking...' line in my logfile. For
example:

From grosser Mon Jun 15 15:54:21 1998
 Subject: lkajsdr
  Folder: /var/spool/mail/grosser
procmail: Assigning "INCLUDERC=/home/d6/grosser/.procmail/rc.maillists"
procmail: No match on "^To:.*avid-l"
procmail: No match on "^Cc:.*avid-l"
procmail: Bypassed locking "/var/spool/mail/grosser.lock" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=/var/spool/mail/grosser"
procmail: Opening "/var/spool/mail/grosser"
procmail: Acquiring kernel-lock

I've checked the archives and found a mention of a patch to fix this, but
can't find that on the ftp. Is this even a problem, and/or could this be
my locking problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ben
