I've tried setting this:
O UnsafeGroupWrites
But it doesn't seem to help much. I'm going to poke around in the cf source
directories more... if I find anything, I'll forward it.

No alas these aren't the problem; at the moment I'm thinking
sendmail has become overly paranoid. I wish I could figure
out "about what". Looking around in sendmail - related places
I came across a posting from someone who'd had exactly the same problem
some weeks back; he wound up removing the check from the sendmail
source.
ps -- any reason you decided not to make procmail the LDA for sendmail? I
