Im using procmail3.11pre7 which says, that its 8-bit clean,
but when sending email via .forward or via sendmail the
mails get munged, it changes e.g

    |dv\DV (which is German ue,ae,oe,UE,AE,OE)

into a

    |dv\DV

which is whatever ?

Are you completely sure that it's procmail that's doing the munging?

Yes, after sendmail received the message as a BCC to another
mailbox, everything is right. This one surely is munged as well,
cause it already ran through the .procmailrc ;o)

If you just feed procmail the message, does the munging still take
place? If not, then it's a sendmail problem and you should check your
sendmail version and the flags on the local and prog mailers.

procmail is also used as the local mailer, sendmail is 8.9.1
and brand-new, where procmail is rather old (pre7 ??? no final ??)

Is there something wrong with the calling parameters in sendmail.cf:

Mlocal,     P=/usr/local/bin/procmail, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn9, S=10/30, R=20/40,
        M=10000000, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix,
        A=procmail -Y -a $h -d $u

??? Any idea ...

Kind regards, Frank
