procmail not 8-bit clean

Dear fellows,

Im using procmail3.11pre7 which says, that its 8-bit clean,
but when sending email via .forward or via sendmail the
mails get munged, it changes e.g

        |dv\DV (which is German ue,ae,oe,UE,AE,OE)

into a

        |dv\DV

which is whatever ?

Any tips ???
