Re: duplicate emails from 2 separate lists

That would another reason for people to hate cross-posting. :)

No, procmail cannot do this itself. The action of you reading a message in
some mail program doesn't normally send any kind of command to procmail to
go mark something as read in another file. The "read/not-read" marks are a
mail reader mechanism anyway. But what you can do is filter dupes. There's
a simple recipe in the procmailex manpage that scans for messages with
duplicate ID's. (scan for "duplicate") It would prevent the dupes with the
same message ID from ever hitting the 2nd mailbox. If you need the message
to go into the 2nd mailbox then it sounds to me like you're mixing
archiving and reading problems. You could still get around it but things
could get strange. If you aren't confident enough to try things then a
sample of one of those duplicate message pairs would help others provide a
solution.

Good luck,
Dave

Hi

I get the same email which has been posted to 2 separate
mailing lists sorted out in 2 folders. Is it possible in procmail
to mark the message as Read on the other folder if i had read
the duplicate messages in one of the folders.

Thanks
