Major Header Headache

2000-09-25 15:45:55
I use a gatekeeper email account that takes an email from
an Originator and passes it to the Destination. The
Destination replies to the gatekeeper who in turn
sends it back to the Originator. At that point, any
more correspondace between Originator and Destination
take place independant of the gatekeeper. To make
this work I have to put the Originator's email address
in the body of the initial email and make sure that
when Destination replies, he includes the original
body of the email. Procmail rules.

I would rather make this work just using header
fields alone, but find most email systems trim off
all but a few header fields when you reply:

Return-Path:
Delivered-To:
Subject:
To:
Date:

If you think about it, the Destination email account
is the one I can't effect via procmail. I could
overwrite subject to pass the email address, but
people replying might just type over that. I guess
I don't think I can do this just in the headers.
Prove me wrong people - prove me wrong.

Thanks Tom
