Error while writing to "..." ; Pipe Died

Hi Everyone,

I've encountered a problem with procmail. I've a number of simple sorting
routines, which have worked up until very recently, when my hard drive
filled. :) I have since relieved the congestion on my hard drive, but the
procmail filters are still not working.

I recieve errors of the following nature:

0 1 ## procmail: Error while writing to "/home/bmh/mail/inbox"
0 1 ## procmail: Error while writing to "BugTraq"

for my default mail address and BugTraq lists, respectively (as examples).
I am unable to assert the exact problem in this.

The man page procmail(1) clearly describes this error:
"Nonexistent subdirectory, no write permission, pipe died or disk full."

However, other lists work fine (Firewalls, for example, which is
functionally equivalent to BugTraq), eliminating Nonexistent subdirectory,
write permissions, and disk full problems (no locking problems). That
leaves me with "Pipe died", of which I know nothing.

Notably, when I delete the existing BugTraq file, the BugTraq mailing list
files properly into a new BugTraq file. When I concactenate the old list
onto the new one (just created by the filtering rules when I get BugTraq
mail) it subsequent mail fails to filter properly, returning the above
message.

It is possible that the file structure is corrupt (ext2), but I have
concatenated messages manually to the existing files where the filter
fails, as well as hard copied the files (in case of some bizarre frag
problem).

So I am left with an odd situation of a "pipe died" error (as far as I can
surmise) which leaves me no leads, and I'm hoping someone has run into
this before or knows enough about it to further debug this problem.

Cheers!
Brian
