Re: /etc/procmailrc vs ~/.procmailrc

2001-01-09 17:57:40
Jaime asked,

| Hi. I have a simple question. If the system has a /etc/procmailrc file, and
| the user has a ~/.procmailrc, are they both processed or just the user's one?

Both. If procmail is invoked with no rcfile on the command line and without
the -p option, it will read /etc/procmailrc first, and then, for any message
where delivery is not completed by instructions in /etc/procmailrc, it will
continue into ~/.procmailrc.

| if they're not both processed, do i need to "include" the main one to have
| some global filtering?

Specifically including either in the other is likely to be a bad idea.
