X-Frequent-Sender

2001-07-26 23:28:26
Dear All,

I am relatively new to this list, so I am not sure what is well known.

I like most of you like to filter out spam and one thing that helps me is
the following:

 :0 f: FrequentSender.lock
        * ? /usr/bin/formail -r -D $CACHESIZE /root/.ProcmailCache1
        * ? /usr/bin/formail -r -D $CACHESIZE /root/.ProcmailCache2
        * ? /usr/bin/formail -r -D $CACHESIZE /root/.ProcmailCache3
        |formail  -a X-Frequent-Sender:

Clearly you can stack up as many Cache lines as you need to define frequent.

The idea is that spammers are normally not around for very long with
the same address, so very rarely will spam get the X-Frequent-Sender:
header line added. I get about 100 emails per day and in the last year
no spam was mark X-Frequent-Sender: and 90% of my wanted mail did get
that label.

I put my X-Frequent-Sender: in one file that I look at many times per day
and the rest in another file to be check once in a while, and generally
not kept for long. Sometimes very simple ideas produce good results.

Best wishes,

Kalvis
