This host is using kde, and alice is using kmail; maybe there's a
clue there. The offending From_ line is observed in
~alice/Mail/inbox, but... voila! the From_ line is correct in
/var/spool/mail/alice. So it seems the mystery is solved---the
culprit is kmail. Since it seems to be within kmail's inbox,
maybe it's not such a problem.
