Re: Error while writing to file

I think the problem lies within the Postfix system, not procmail.
If you're running Postfix as MTA, you'd be wise to check-up on the
mailbox_size_limit variable.
Postfix sets this variable default to 50Mb and writes an error message to your
maillog file (probably /var/log/maillog or /var/log/syslog, check your
syslogd.conf for verification).

Just egrep in your maillog file for "can't create user output file".
The Postfix MAILER-DAEMON will inform you of this situation.

The problem can be solved by setting $mailbox_size_limt to 0 or a value
greater than 50Mb.

On my Debian 3.0 system I started getting procmail errors this morning:

      procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=postfix-users"
      procmail: Opening "postfix-users"
      procmail: Acquiring kernel-lock
procmail: Error while writing to "postfix-users"
procmail: Truncated file to former size
      procmail: Unlocking "postfix-users.lock"

The "postfix-users" file is 51199395 bytes in size and my procmail version
is:
