First of all thanks to all the people who responded! I had a look
on Procmail Sanitizer before but unfortunatly it seems to do all
of the things that I do not need, but lacks the (only) functionality
I really need. To be more specific, I access my email via pop3 and
want to get rid of overlarge attachments. I currently use a procmail
receipt that stores all mail larger than 500k into a seperate folder
for later use and pipes a copy of the mail into a home-made perl
script. The script then tries to remove all MIME attachments except
the plain text ones. However this does only rarely work as designed
and I want to change to something more robust then my quick hack.
From what I could see, Procmail Sanitizer only changes attachment
names or makes them unusable but does not shrink the mail size in
any way. Is this correct? Are there any other programs I could use
as filters to strip of all binary attachments?

I am looking for a tool that does basically what MIMEdefang does,
but I need it to be able to be used as filter from procmail. MIMEdefang
itself integrates into sendmail which is not possible for me. Anybody
