i use procmail on my machine under gnu-linux (console) slack 8. at
every new mail arrival, procmail shows his message on every terminal
and shows the beginning of the mail. well, i would like turn off this
feature, but i can't find any information about on procmail's
man.
This feature is from something called 'comsat' and there are two ways
to turn it off:
1) run "biff n" in each terminal window. This tells the comsat daemon
not to display these messages in each terminal you run it in. Putting
that command in your .login or .bash_profile should cause it to be run
in every login session.
2) Put COMSAT=no in your .procmailrc. That tells procmail not to send any
notices to the comsat daemon, so it will never bug you.
For more details, try reading the biff(1) or comsatd(1) manpages, or
look for COMSAT in the procmailrc(5) manpage.
