As I was looking at this it brings up a question,
I have
* ^TO_(_dot_)*(_at_)juno(_dot_)com
And this does grab any mail from fred(_at_)juno(_dot_)com or
mary(_at_)juno(_dot_)com
At least Im fairly certain it does. So when you say it takes whole addresses
this doesnt seem to be exactly what it takes,
I seem to be confused then by your statement? Is it possible to clarify?
What I mean is it looks for the given address, whereas ^TO (no underscore)
looks for a the given string within an address. For example
^TOandrew
would match any email address that contains the string "andrew". Thus it would
match "andrew(_at_)pure-chaos(_dot_)com",
"andrew+procmail(_at_)pure-chaos(_dot_)com" or
"anyone(_at_)andrew(_dot_)com" or even
"john(_dot_)andrews(_at_)domain(_dot_)com", whereas
^TO_andrew
would only match mail from a local user[1].
^TO_andrew.* gets a little closer to ^TOandrew, but andrew must appear at the
beginning of the address: "andrew(_at_)pure-chaos(_dot_)com",
"andrew+procmail(_at_)pure-chaos(_dot_)com", but not
"anyone(_at_)andrew(_dot_)com" or
"john(_dot_)andrews(_at_)domain(_dot_)com".
[1] as long as their MUA or the MTA are not configured to automatically
qualify all addresses.
