Yes, they're the same for sendmail as for postfix.  One should normally check
the sysexits.h file (usually in /usr/include/) to see exactly what they are on
one's system.

Smail is another story.  It couldn't give a hell about exit codes.  Once it
invokes the shell to read the pipe in .forward or in the alias table, it
washes its hands of the message, and if the throwing program reports a
non-zero exit code, Smail does not generate a bounce.  If the throwing program
encounters a problem and exits badly without delivering the message anywhere,
the message is lost.
