Sorry if I misinterpreted this. That's why I wanted to confirm.
My conclusion came from vi'ing a file prior to passing it through
procmail. It showed the ^M characters in the file before procmail, and
after procmail when I ran vi, it didn't show the ^M characters.

No. It's not true. Why do you conclude otherwise? Have you tried
testing it?
