    Hello to all,

    For a long time that I use mutt/fetchnail/procmail without any
    problems. Today I decide to give a try to getmail. I've configure it to
    pipe to procmail and it gives the error:

    ===
    getmail started for user(_at_)domain(_dot_)bogus:110
      POP3 greeting:  +OK
      POP3 user response:  +OK
      POP3 PASS response:  +OK
      POP3 stat response:  1 messages, 614 octets
      POP3 list response:  +OK
      msg #1/1 : len 614 ... retrieved Delivery error (command
    "/usr/local/bin/procmail -d user" exited 0 but wrote to stderr
    (procmail: [82414] Thu Feb  6 21:31:07 2003
    procmail: Assigning "LOGABSTRACT=all"
    procmail: Assigning "LOGFILE=/var/log/procmail.log"

As a rule, I assign a LOGFILE _BEFORE_ I set things like LOGABSTRACT and VERBOSE. But hey, that's just me.

Where do you figure procmail will emit logging information to before you've specified a LOGFILE? You get _one_ guess.

    procmail: Opening "/var/log/procmail.log"))

What user is this all running as? Should just any user be permitted to write to files in /var/log/ ?
