Extracting video attachments with body as description...

2003-03-01 05:13:53
Hi,

I saw lots of posts on this list about exe's, zip's etc.etc. but I'm a
real n00b with content-types and what not.

Basically:

content(_at_)domain(_dot_)com

Get's mails with video attachements (avi, mpgs, lots of formats), and I
would like to:

-save video into a folder in $HOME (~/content) along with a text file with
the same name as the video file:

                -from who
-text body of their messages (info)

So for an example:

~/content/myvideo.wmv
~/content/myvideo.wmv.txt

Where the text file is basically the message - attachement.

Problems:

I get sent nasty file names like "- 52 - myvideo" or filenames with bad
characters in like ' or " or other weird stuff. Is there a generic
"renamer" to scrap this?

Thanks for any pointers, I don't have a lot of time to read lots of
manuals, so practical solutions would be welcomed over "RTFM" ones.

Oh yeah, they all have: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; for vids.

Poff
