The previously mentioned .redirect isn't a standard sendmail construct (there's a redirect FEATURE, but that's a ".REDIRECT" suffix on aliases which results in an automatically generated error message advising the sender of the correct address to send mail to). It'd help to know what this .redirect you speak of is. Is the file in your homedir, or off in /etc/mail ?

BTW, your ISP is still running Sendmail 8.9.3. Unless they've _patched_ the version of sendmail they're running, the host is at risk:

'man smrsh' (SendMail Restricted SHell). The MTA is configured to restrict what programs can be invoked by the prog mailer. Not affiliated whatsoever with procmail itself, excepting that is the program you're trying to invoke and smrsh isn't configured to permit it.

Is this something useful I can convey to my hosting company
(www.hostway.com)? Is it something they need to change on their end?

Something at their end. I'd just come off and ask THEM about what is necessary to configure for invoking procmail on their host.

BTW, I'm sure you're well aware of this already, but hostway.com is well known in the admin community as a hoster of spamsites. If you ever find your email DNSBL'd for no apparent reason, that'd be the reason.
