You can easily dummy one up and throw a message at a sandbox...
The recipe succeeds for both cases, but text/html leaves
MATCH empty.
What if:

I simply DO NOT use or conditions outside of a parenthesis, to properly
delimit the scope of the OR. Even so, if a non-parenthesised expression
did match, one would expect an assignment.
