sequence matches

Hi all,

man 7 regex says:
"An atom followed by a bound containing one integer i and
no comma matches a sequence of exactly i matches of the
atom."

But when i try:

  :0 f
  * ^Message-ID: .{60}
  | ...

it matches no time, even if the Message-ID is longer
than 60 atoms! Why?
