Hello,

There is a fairly well-understood way to fool a bayesian classifier

When bayesian email filters first appeared I wrote to ESR and Paul
Graham, (who write the theoretical paper behind them), to point out
exactly this problem. Graham answered the same thing as you:
I would not worry too much about spammers appending customized
text. They might append random text, or the same text to every
email, but anything that requires them to treat each recipient
individually is too expensive for them.
However, I'm not sure yet about this. If one contributes often to a
mailing list, how much hassle it is to automatically append a
different real message from that list archives to each spam? They
could also do this on a list basis. What do you think?
I follow the Africa Linux users list, which discusses how Free
Software can speed up development there. Just this morning bogofilter
let through an html message with the following text (probably in white
color, ie invisible) *and* a picture containing a promise to boost my
private life i I just clicked etc etc...
I received other (very few however) similar messages lately, all
seeming to demonstrate that that approach *is* being tried. Any extra
recipe or comment is welcome. If you want copy of that message to look
at the headers or anything just ask.

The AU is a continent-wide body that seeks to foster a common African
approach to boosting democracy and development in a continent weighed
down by conflicts, HIV/AIDS and debt. Directors Gini Reticker and
Lesli Klainberg focus specifically on independent films, but didn't
make a documentary that bashes Hollywood -- even though few female
directors get to make mainstream, big-budget films. "With the advent
of 'Jaws' and 'Star Wars' Hollywood was moving toward these big
blockbuster films, and there was suddenly this space in the
independent film world to create these stories," Reticker said. The
session at the AU's Addis Ababa headquarters on Thursday is expected
to elect a speaker and decide a location for the parliament's
permanent home -- key contenders areSouth Africa and Egypt after
Libya withdrew its offer to host the assembly.

The AU wants the pan-African assembly, modelled on the European Union
parliament, to give Africans a bigger voice in how they are governed,
officials said. It will also seek to harmonise the laws of member
countries. Keynote speakers include Lisa Weber, senior executive
vice president and chief administrative officer for MetLife Inc.;
Debra Cohen, vice president of the Knowledge Development Society for
Human Resource Management; Joyce LaValle, senior vice president of
human services for Interface Americas; The AU wants the pan-African
assembly, modelled on the European Union parliament, to give Africans
a bigger voice in how they are governed, officials said.
