* Hans du Plooy <hansdp(_at_)newingtoncs(_dot_)co(_dot_)za> :
I tried clamassassin, but for some reason every mail with an attachment
returned with a header saying something like
Clamscan: Access denied. Haven't had a chance to see if its just virus mails
or all attachments.
Not sure about your problem, but I just installed as per the
documents, and all my emails are tagged X-Virus-Status: Yes or No.
If yes -> /dev/null (eventually - at present testing so they are
sent to a mailbox).
If no -> next recipe.
I assume you have installed ClamAV as per documents, set up a
non-shell account user 'clamav', and that is working for you as
root. clamd must be run as root, I believe.
I have also set up a cron job for freshclam to update the virus
database.
Then installed clamassassin. You are having permission problems. I
just checked my /usr/local/bin directory's permissions, and all of
the clamav and clamassassin executables are rwxr-xr-x and owned by
root. Now, I can't remember if they were like that by default, or
if I changed them. I suspect I did. Probably not the best solution
permission-wise, but it works.
