[formail] length of idcache limited to 32k?

Hi,
since I get hundreds of mails per day (mostly spam), I want a
_large_ idcache with formail -D. But even after specifying 
:0 Wh: msgid.lock
| formail -D 262144 ~/Mail/.msgid.cache
in my .procmailrc the length of ~/Mail/.msgid.cache stays at
32820. :-( 

Is this a known limitation or did I screw up somehow during
install?

System is Linux 2.2.19, procmail is freshly installed 3.22
