The only I can think about is just a clue from the old
days; just hope it will help you: In the days of the
program mail(1) in unix you worked interactive from the
command line and single "." in beginning of the line was
a sign to the program for End-Of-File ie end of input.
In sendmail the flag "-i" means ignore this behavior and
don't waiting for the "."
Try to find in qmail's configuration or qmail documantes any
bearing about EOF or dot as end of input.
