Yes, the extra "." is exactly the same as in your example.

        The logs look ok and no extra dots or reason for dots.
        The only I can think about is just a clue from the old
        days; just hope it will help you: In the days of the
        program mail(1) in unix you worked interactive from the
        command line and single "." in beginning of the line was
        a sign to the program for End-Of-File ie end of input.
        In sendmail the flag "-i" means ignore this behavior and
        don't waiting for the "."

        Try to find in qmail's configuration or qmail documantes any
        bearing about EOF or dot as end of input.

Bye,
  Udi

My procmail shows;

procmail: Assigning "DEFAULT=new"
procmail: No match on "^From: Pacific Screening Fax Server
<fax(_at_)io(_dot_)pacificscreening(_dot_)com>"
procmail: Assigning "LASTFOLDER=new/msg.-AMR"
procmail: Opening "new/msg.-AMR"
procmail: Acquiring kernel-lock
From dan(_at_)mydomain(_dot_)com Wed Feb 01 17:09:38 2006
 Subject: RE: Facsimile received from <UNSPECIFIED>
  Folder: new/msg.-AMR

There is no relevant log entries in /var/log/maillog or
/var/log/messages, but /var/log/qmail/qmail-send/current shows;

@4000000043e0f1c62e15ad14 delivery 38434: success:
procmail:_[17608]_Wed_Feb__1_09:37:00_2006/procmail:_Assigning_"MAILDIR=/home/vpopmail/domains/pacificscreening.com/robert/Maildir"/procmail:_Assigning_"LOGFILE=/home/vpopmail/domains/pacificscreening.com/robert/procmail.log"/procmail:_Opening_"/home/vpopmail/domains/pacificscreening.com/robert/procmail.log"/did_0+0+2/

And yes, you're right - I do mean

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm working with a procmail recipe that occasionally drops an extra "."
at the very end of received e-mail. I'm stumped because it's erratic.

    Can you send example? Is it like this?

Hello,
   bla bla bla
Good Bye
 Uuddii
.       <--------=  The extra "."

Here's a copy of my .procmailrc:
======
VERBOSE=on
MAILDIR=/home/vpopmail/domains/pacificscreening.com/robert/Maildir
LOGFILE=/home/vpopmail/domains/pacificscreening.com/robert/procmail.log
DEFAULT=new
:0
*^From: Pacific Screening Fax Server
<fax(_at_)io(_dot_)pacificscreening(_dot_)com>
*^Subject: .* .* .* .* .* completed
/dev/null

    I guess that you want to say:

* ^Subject: [^ ]* [^ ]* [^ ]* [^ ]* [^ ]* completed

=======

and my .qmail:
=======
| preline procmail -m -p ./.procmailrc
=======

Any tips would be most welcome.

    What procmail.log say? What did you find in /var/log/message or
    /var/log/maillog?

Bye,
 Udi

Thanks!
Robert
