Trouble shooting Slow delivery time

2006-10-20 14:18:30
Hi: I'm using v3.21 on RH 9.0. Procmail has *always*
worked with the current configuration, but it seems like
sometimes it takes a long time to deliver.

Example:

1)I send from mutt to a test email address for
which I have a mailbox configured in netscape.
I can almost immediately get that email downloaded to
netscape.

2)I send from mutt to my main email address, for which
  my system is configured to receive via fetchmail
  Within seconds of sending the mail, if I invoke
  fetchmail, my logfile tells me that it has been read.

  *but* it takes some time before it is actually delivered.
  That time may vary from 3 minutes to 10.
  At that time I will see it record in .procmail/log

config files:
.forward: (note that user is tim)
  "|/usr/local/bin/procmail #tim"

.procmailrc:
# Set to yes when debugging
VERBOSE=no
# Remove ## when debugging; set to no if you want minimal logging
## LOGABSTRACT=all
MAILDIR=$HOME/mail
# Directory for storing procmail-related files
PMDIR=$HOME/.procmail
DEFAULT_MAILBOX=$MAILDIR/inbox
# Put ## before LOGFILE if you want no logging (not recommended)
LOGFILE=$PMDIR/log
INCLUDERC=$PMDIR/lists.rc
# changed January 5, 2002, should point to inbox for any left
INCLUDERC=$PMDIR/default.rc

default.rec:
:0:$MAILDIR/.lockmail
$DEFAULT_MAILBOX

Any tips on trouble shooting or optimizing would be appreciated.
:-) Maybe I'm expecting too much, feel free to let me know..

thanks
tim
