Precursor... according to the procmail help I've read, there can only be
one action per recipe. Do I assume that this constitutes one action?

* Some condition
{
Some action
Another action
}
If this the case can one of those actions be to set a variable for use
later in the recipe? And if so, how do I do that? There are examples
of extensive use of $MATCH but I need to store a few values before
moving on in the recipe.
