There's just been yet another round of argument about this

What's the argument against it, "All change is bad"?
You can read the whole thread for yourself (Subject:
draft-resnick-2822upd-02 and Netnews) in the ietf-822 archives, but it
boils down to (1) there's no good reason for requiring a space [there
is already a colon], (2) it's not the only difference in the
specifications so gatewaying has to happen anyway, (3) it's too late
in the procedural sequence of updating the standard to introduce more
changes, and (4) there's not enough support for the suggested change
among the members of the working group responsible for the 2822
update.
