I have a bunch of changes that I'd like to make to procmail, but it
looks like things have been stagnant for quite some time now.
Get the source, make your changes, post diffs to procmail-dev. Nobody is
stopping you from making your changes.
You are aware of the procmail-dev mailing list?
Yup. I suggested it be set up in 1998. :)
What I don't want is for patches to be relegated to obscurity because
they're not making it into the main source tree.
As Philip talked about a long time ago, patches aren't worth anything
if they're rolled into the main tree. People want to see new releases
with primary version numbers, and they're going to be reticent to install
patches, betas, or release candidates in a production environment.
Philip is working for Sendmail, Inc. these days.
This is why, in 1998, I suggested that we allow multiple gatekeepers
to the source code. Stephen and Philip only wanted the two of them to
have control/access, but now things aren't getting done. I don't begrudge
them the other things occupying their time, but we need to make sure that
things keep moving forward.
Personally, I'm thinking that it's time to fork procmail development under
the GPL unless we can get active developers on board for 'master' procmail
tree.
