I trust this logic is encapsulated within a mailer daemon message construct
only? There are far too many listservs whose digest modes will screw you,
not to mention MUAs (and users) which will attribute quotes in various
ways. Then there are webforums where someone may have an account set up
with their email address and a variation on their name (or a complete farce
of a handle), and thus messages are generated on their behalf by a foreign
mail system. None of these will necessarily pose issues so long as the
check you're suggesting above is ONLY being checked for as part of
mailer-daemon checking (well, unless the user is also an admin of such
lists, receiving bounces of undeliverable digests and the like <g>).
Just my opinion.
