*REJECTED*, not *BOUNCED*. Bouncing should be a VERY last resort and
should only be done if you can somehow verify the address to which you
are bouncing prior to sending the actual bounce.
the backscatter that started this discussion is what happens when mail
is bounced. It gets sent back to whatever address is in the 'From:' or
'Sender:' or 'Return-Path:' headers, all of which can be faked by spammers.
If it is REJECTed then the spammer's MTA simp[ly has to eat it right
there before delivery.
