Filtering and Soundex

2008-12-23 22:42:32

Hello.

I am wondering whether a means exists to filter using Procmail, using Soundex.

It has occurred to me that, with spam that is set up to use misspelling variants, using Soundex in filtering, would be quite useful.

One of the Subject field values that is used, as an example, at present, is "Present for you".

Now, to set a string value for automatic deleting, of the exact string, will only catch a small proportion of the mailicious messages, that are mispelt variants of that field value.

But, as the messages come with a number of misspelling variants of each word, in different combinations, it had occurred to me that if a Soundex switch was available so that all possible misspelt variant combinations of the string could be caught, for a single string value set for filtering, it would be a relatively good solution (other than finding the people responsible, and sending someone around with an axe, to amputate all of the offenders' limbs).

So, does a means for filtering, using Soundex, exist in Procmail?
