When you say that the key is present in the email, do you mean you can see the 
key, or that when you look at the raw source of the message, the key is there 
exactly as you expect it to be?

I suspect if you look at the raw source you will see that the key is not there, 
at least not there in a way that will match your search.

BTW, I've never seen 

*$$\VARNAME

in procmail. What's the second $ supposed to do?
