RE: Finding key-value pairs in email body [Plain Text version]

2013-08-24 20:33:31
The emails required to be processed by this recipe are all HTML emails
generated using some or the other automated processes over which I have no
control. They are all HTML formatted emails and I confirmed that the key is
present in those emails (at least visually).

I even opened the email in Thunderbird to see that the key is present but I do
suspect that there might be extraneous formatting or escape characters coming
from the style sheets used in the HTML formatted email. What I don't know is
which editor I should use to view the presence of any such extraneous
characters.

If it helps, attached is the ORIGINALLY received HTML email that contains the
key the recipe is looking for but cannot find. They key in the email that the
recipe is looking for is " Email: kveera(_at_)cisco(_dot_)com ".

Thank you for your time and I hope to find a way to decipher this issue.

Regards,
Komal

I apologize for the duplicate if you have already read my previous one
but I am hoping to get some meaningful help.

When you're evaluating that the webform generated messages contain the text,
are you actually looking at the raw message say using 'less' or somesuch, or
are you viewing it in a MUA which may be handling character encoding?

If the text is encoded or escaped in any fashion, you won't match it.

LuKreme's complaint about your message to the procmail list itself being in
HTML instead of plaintext highlights the likelyhood of this being your problem.
