My friend Paul Graham, the guy who more or less invented Bayesian filtering,
Marketed is a much better word. While he did contribute technically by
pushing the individual aspect of it (where the results are much improved if
it is trained for each individual user, as opposed to trained for a single
domain or single server), his major accomplishment was getting word out,
turning "Bayes" into an anti-spam buzzword.
