FWIW, djbdns allows arbitrary record types to be specified in hex.
Not sure what bind does.


BIND probably crashes horribly and gives someone else root access to 
your machine in the process. j/k :p

I don't think BIND allows you to specify arbitrary data types, though.  Older
versions of BIND won't cache or pass along unknown RR's to client systems,
either (when used as a caching resolver).
