Hi,
I'm actually putting SPF to a test on a production system.
In the last nine hours it rejected 23 mails due to "SPF fail" (vs. 113
rejects due to RBL lists). It was not spam though, just the usual MyDoom
bombardment (I can tell because half of the attempts tried to use my own
email domain and the local part was always joe and peter and so on).
My qmail patch now seems to be stable enough to use it on a mail server.
(you can always find the latest version at http://www.saout.de/misc/ ).
I've added "a/24 mx/24 ptr" to the guess rules (for domains not
publishing SPF records) and for mails without forged senders it indeed
always passed for the last two days. I mostly receive emails from
mailing lists though.
