As you noted, "easy to understand" is entirely subjective.  How much
time have you spent on trying to understand "exists" and macros?  If
you spent more than ten minutes and still didn't get it, the website
probably needs better docs.  Right now the
http://spf.pobox.com/macros.html page just quotes the spec.

You could be up and running with
http://search.cpan.org/~luismunoz/Net-DNS-Server-1.46/ in about ten
minutes.

As a bridge between DVP and SPF, why not create a gateway DNS server
that can be queried with "exists" and reformats into DVP.
