Now that we have a good understanding of scopes, could
someone who actually plans to use scoping please describe
your use case?
I already described my case recently. I will repeat it shortly:
My server says "HELO mail.pamho.net" and "MAIL
FROM:<(_dot_)(_dot_)(_dot_)(_at_)pamho(_dot_)net>.
I don't want that any MTA accepts mail saying "HELO pamho.net" or
"MAIL FROM:<(_dot_)(_dot_)(_dot_)(_at_)mail(_dot_)pamho(_dot_)net>. So the SPF
records will be:
pamho.net TXT "v=spf1 scope=-helo ip4:81.221.18.146 scope=* -all"
mail.pamho.net TXT "v=spf1 scope=helo ip4:81.221.18.146 scope=* -all"
The same is true for many domains like aol.com, msn.com, etc.
