I have been writing now for several weeks about events taking place
within the IETF's MARID working group. Today is, purportedly, the "last
call" for Sender-ID, which was supposed to become a new standards track
anti-forgery proposal under MARID's charter.
Unfortunately I believe that Sender-ID is about to get kicked to the
curb because of a license imposed by Microsoft on one of the components
of the standard. They call this component the Purported Responsible
Address or PRA for short. Their license (which I have written about
before) is imposed based on a patent application they have pending with
the USPTO....
