Just because you've never used and it do not understand it, does not
mean its bad and has no benefit.

The biggest problem with wildcards really that too many people think
they can be used for things the current wildcards cant do and so
admins screw up. But it does not mean wildcards are bad for things they work on and they are great for some applications.

As for the draft to be sited and referenced, if you actually were
even marginally involved in ietf and knew about its dns work, you'd
not doubt have been able to notice:
