[spf-discuss] SPF RR not totally useless for v=spf1

2006-03-15 17:40:18
It occurred to me that the SPF RR can be useful for SPF1 even now.
Suppose you have a domain that uses TXT records for some other purpose,
and using TXT records for SPF conflicts with that (perhaps because it
causes the total TXT size to exceed a UDP packet, or because the other
purpose doesn't tag its records with a prefix). Then you can publish SPF
RR instead. Not all receiver implementations will see it, but it is
better than nothing. And more receivers will see it over time.

In that sense, the SPF RR does directly address the complaint that SPF
abuses TXT records.
