[spf-discuss] BITS Releases Email Security Toolkit

2007-04-16 09:33:39
As you may recall, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the November 9
BITS meeting as the SPF representative. BITS is a US financial industry
group oriented towards standard industry resolution of security issues.

They haveannounced their "BITS Email Security Toolkit: Protocols and
Recommendations for Reducing Risks".

The result of a cooperative effort between BITS member institutions, vendors,
and Internet Service Providers, the Toolkit recommends the implementation
within the next eighteen months of three specific protocols to improve email
security. The protocols are Transport Layer Security (TLS), Sender
Authentication (Sender ID Framework (SIDF) or Sender Policy Framework
(SPF)), and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM).

The Toolkit (that's whay they call it, it's really a long white paper) may be
downloaded from the BITS website at
http://bitsinfo.org/downloads/Publications%20Page/BITSSecureEmailFINALAPRIL1507.pdf

or http://tinyurl.com/yw3vpg and the press release may accessed here:
 http://bitsinfo.org/downloads/Misc/BITSReleaseEmailSecurityFINALApril07.pdf
or http://tinyurl.com/ysbvhk.
