I think the usual solution is to use four   for a tab (and one for each

space wanted). Perhaps to use an entity in a DTD (don't know enough schema) 
that can translate a single tab code.

 Totally simple question, but . how can I make insert a tab and/or space
characters into my html output from the xsl?
 , etc aren't legal in the xsl document....
